Today, I heard the most outrageous thing I have ever heard. I was sitting at the computer surfing the interwebs as I often happen to do and I overheard the girl being interviwed on the T.V. from some reality television show and she actually was complaining that her life was so hard because "I'm so different from everyone." I don't even know why this bothers me so much except for the fact that it came out of the mouth of someone who willingly is taking part in an artificially contrived situation whose main point for creating revenue is the conformity it elicits from its "contestants." If your individuality is so important to you that the challenges to it bring you to the point of tears why participate in such a spectacle?
Word.
A woman walked into my place of work just as 2 hispanic men who were obviously speaking Spanish were walking out and she said, "Huh, what were they hispanic or something?" There was a long silence as I gave her a look then I gave my co-worker a look and I finally said, "I think they were Italian." She believed me. I am of the opinion that there must be something wrong when a person is so out of touch with current events that she can not even identify 2 members out of 39 million of her countrymen(latest figures from the U.S. Census Bureau).

Indeed, the Emperor gathered his cohorts and said unto them:
"You shall hold these two things in precedence and importance above all else; above any allegiance or loyalty or love of family, neighbor, faith or country: Consumption and Profit. For there will always be Consumption never ending and there will always be those of us few that number as the Profiteers. No matter how unfair, how unjust, how artificially contrived the means prove to be it will always be in the interest of securing Profit. The world is abundant with untapped Consumption Capital and it is our indisputable privilege to exploit it. A state is only as important as an ally as its potential to Consume is great or lowly. Those powers that manage a state are only as useful to our cause as they are submissive to our means of exploiting their Capital. Customs, laws, organizations or competition that prove to be a nuisance will be met headfirst and mercilessly crushed underfoot whether through clandestine or overt operations in the guise of whatever noble notion proves to be fashionable at the time. In league together our State and its Profiteers will insure dominion of a global market for Consumption of our vast tangible and intangible Capital.”
And such it was that the union of Government and Corporation was consummated as an institution inviolable in the name of Profit at all Costs.

The easiest way to erase from the consciousness of a republic the notion of class struggle is to declare war on a foreign enemy to align the poor with the rich under the guise of patriotism. With war it is guaranteed for at least a generation that the stranglehold of the status quo will not be broken.
There is no facilitation of distraction from the class struggle more swiftly manufactured than war. The struggles of the poor against the rich, the disenfranchised against the franchisers, the workers against the capitalists; the struggles of those in possession of the means of production against those who gain to exploit them are trivialized in the face of nationalism, of patriotism, of unity against a "common enemy."

What did it prove? I mean, lets look at who actually boycotted work and the economy on Monday. I can tell you with alomost 100% certainty that the people that demonstrated on Monday were not the 12 million illegal immigrants currently living in the US. The people that demonstrated were the ones that had the priveledge to afford to call it quits on Monday; the middle class immigrants and the first second or third generation American sons and daughters of immigrants. I think its great that these people walked out of work to show solidarity in support of immigrant rights but the people that could push around the most political clout were stuck at work because it was either be there or get fired. Well, that's all I have to say concerning that. ___________________________________________________________
Anyboy know why Wikipedia has been so slow lately?

Well. I feel bad that I neglect this journal. I don't know why. ___________________________________________________________________
Anyway, today I did a circumnavigation of Corvallis, as I frequently do. There was a headwind blowing at about 13 mph. This made it really tough to climb one of the steepest hills in Corvallis. I was probably doing about 3 mph up the hill and it took everything I had in me to keep from collapsing on the side of the road. It was tough but I made it. There's a park at the top of the hill and I took a break there. When I dismounted my legs were so wobbly that I almost fell. Going down the hill from the park, the headwind turned into a tailwind and it was glorious. I was probably doing about 30 mph. It was amazing. I felt like I was flying. ____________________________________________________________________
I saw tons of people out riding today. Going up Walnut another rider and I took turns drafting. Then right by the furniture store on the outskirts of town a guy on a 20 year old Bianchi gave me a run for the money up the country club road hill. I smoked him, which was cool, and then we talked about bikes and stuff the whole way back into town. He was a nice guy. In all my time riding the trails in Corvallis this was the first time I'd actually interacted with another rider while on the trail. It was a good experience and it made my day. ____________________________________________________________________
We went to the bubble tea place but they were out of bubble. WTF?! ____________________________________________________________________
Man, I know I had more to say but I just can't think of it right now.

So. Have you ever wondered about how the rest of the world takes a dump? I have and I turned to the glorious font of knowledge that is Wikipedia for the answer to my query.
Behold, the squat toilets of the east: The Squat and Japanese toilets
Behold, the anal and vulval cleansing wonder of Europe: The Bidet
and last but certainly not least, the Indian subcontinent's gift of toilet higene to the world: The Lotah
Everybody who owns a pet or has a sense of humour should read Kate's new blog. It is amazing.

I have dreams that I live in Canada. I have dreams that a million cyclists ride in on a fleet of machines forged in the furnaces of hell. I have dreams that we climb the 10th street bridge. I have dreams that we drink Pabst Blue Ribbon and sing along to Drop Kick Murphys until the break of red dawn.
I have dreams.
